Modern Métis Woman has incorporated a scholarship opportunity that can further assist Métis identifying women that are, or will be, attending a University in Canada. The charity is trying to establish the need for further education within the unique identification of the Modern Métis Woman. Modern Métis Woman wants to emphasize the importance of empowered women. Carleigh Milburn, the founder of Modern Métis Woman has contributed grants to show her love and passion for women’s education. Modern Métis Woman has invested this capital from the founding member generating a return on investment for ongoing Canadian – undergraduate scholarships.

Modern Métis Women provides yearly University Scholarships to qualifying self-identified Métis women.

Application Process

Provide a 1,000 -1,500 essay on one of the following questions:
1. What is your definition of the Modern Métis Woman?
2. How has your Métis Heritage affected you on a personal level?
3. A topic of your choice that relates to Métis Women.

Applicant Requirements:
• Must be a Canadian Citizen
• Must attend a Canadian University
• Must be enrolled full time (Min 3 courses per semester)
• Must identify as a woman
• Must Identify as Métis

At Modern Métis Woman we define Métis as a person who self-identifies as Métis, is distinct from other Aboriginal peoples, is of historic verifiable ancestry and is accepted by Modern Métis Woman. At Modern Métis Woman we are also very committed to diversity, inclusion and the Queer Community.
